Second seed Katarzyna Piter/Lidziya Marozava did just enough to get past Peyton Stearns/Mirra Andreeva in two tight sets 7-5 7-6(6) to advance to the women’s doubles semifinals.
Displaying her full arsenal of weaponry, Leylah Fernandez saw off 18-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova in straight sets 7-6(2) 6-2. Fernandez: “It’s a tough match. It’s always tough to play younger players who are even hungrier and more aggressive than you. Thank you to all the fans for coming out to support me again. Thank you all for the love. Hopefully, I can stick around a little longer.”
